Pupil Premium

We are committed to ensuring that every pupil is known, supported, and able to flourish, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

What is Pupil Premium?

At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil is known, supported, and able to flourish, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

Pupil Premium funding enables us to provide additional care and support for pupils who may face barriers to their learning or wellbeing.

Who is Eligibile?

This funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who:

  • are currently eligible for free school meals, or have been eligible at any point in the past six years
  • have previously been looked after by a local authority, or have left care through adoption or other formal arrangements (including from outside England and Wales)

Pupil Premium is not assigned to individual pupils as a personal budget. Instead, it allows us the flexibility to respond thoughtfully to need, ensuring that support is timely, appropriate, and effective.

How we use Pupil Premium

We use this funding to:

  • provide tailored academic and pastoral support for pupils with identified needs, including those who have or have had a social worker, or who may have caring responsibilities
  • offer targeted interventions, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities that build confidence, resilience, and engagement
  • support inclusive teaching approaches and, where appropriate, whole-class strategies that benefit all learners

The funding is not ring-fenced, which means we can combine resources to provide meaningful, joined-up support that has the greatest possible impact.

Impact

Our approach to Pupil Premium is rooted in understanding each pupil as an individual.

Through careful monitoring and a strong pastoral framework, we aim to ensure that pupils feel supported, valued, and confident in their learning.

The impact of this funding is reflected in:

  • improved academic progress and attainment for eligible pupils
  • increased confidence, participation, and engagement in school life
  • strong levels of attendance and wellbeing
  • positive transitions between key stages and beyond

We regularly review our provision to ensure that the support we offer continues to meet the needs of our pupils and reflects our commitment to both educational excellence and personal development.
